The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 25 May


Our seniors and intermediates both advanced to the second round of the championship with wins over Salthill-Knocknacarra and Athenry respectively. The seniors had a 0-15 to 2-6 victory, with both Salthill goals coming from penalties. The intermediates finished level with Athenry on full time at 11 points each. However, two goals from Paddy Madden secured an extra time victory by 2-12 to 0-13. Congrats to both teams on their wins.
The seniors return to action on Friday evening when they play Mountbellew/Moylough in the league at 8.00 pm in Corofin.

Well done to all involved in our All-Ireland Medal Presentation Social, which was held in the Claregalway Hotel on Saturday. The night proved to be very enjoyable and successful.

Our under 14s had a good win over Caherlistrane in the league on Sunday morning.
We have now qualified for the North Board league final
Under 12s travel to St. Mary's GAA club in Sligo on Saturday to take part on the Paddy Clifford tournament .
Under 10s and 9s play Tuam Stars on Saturday morning in their first league match. Players are to meet at 10.30 in the Tuam Stars grounds on the Dublin Road.
Under 8 and 6 continue their training at 10.00 in Belclare on Saturday.
The Raftery cup is refixed for Thursday 4th of June in Corofin starting at 5.30. All match times are as for the original fixture.

It will not be possible to publish our current lotto results in these notes due to new earlier production deadlines introduced by the Tuam Herald. However, results will be published as normal on Facebook, Twitter and the Club website and will be carried in the Herald on the following week.

Club Notes 18 May


Saturday is proving to be an extremely busy day for the club. We open the defence of our Senior Football title when we take on Salthill-Knocknacarra at 3.00 pm in Kenny Park, Athenry on Saturday. Referee for the game is Martin Flaherty.

This game is followed at 4.45 pm when our Intermediate team take on Athenry with referee, Lloyd Kelly.

Then at 7.30 pm we have our All-Ireland Medal Presentation Social in the Claregalway Hotel commencing at 7.30 pm. This will be your chance to show your appreciation of our senior team in their magnificent achievement in winning the All-Ireland. Medals will be presented by Uachtarán CLG, Aogán Ó Fearghail. In addition the under 21 championship winning team from last year will be presented with their medals. MC for the occasion is Ollie Turner and music is by Marley Road Band. Tickets, costing €30, can be got in Raftery’s Post Office, Canavan’s Belclare, Michael Ryder Auctioneers, Tuam and from committee members.

Our intermediates had a big win over Clifden in the league last Saturday.

Under 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 continue their training on Saturday morning in Belclare at 10.00.

The Raftery Cup Finals were postponed due to the inclement weather last Friday.
A new date will be notified as soon as possible.

We had no lotto jackpot or match 3s winners. The numbers drawn were 13, 14, 17, 18. The seller's prize went to Eileen Ryan. Next week’s jackpot is €2,450 with the draw in the Palm Tree.

U6/U8 Training in Belclare every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm.
U10s Training Tuesdays and Thursday,s in Belclare from 6pm to 7pm.
U12 training for the week ahead:
The B team train on Monday 27th from 6.45 – 8.00 and Wednesday 29th from 6.00 – 7.00. The A team train on Tuesday 28th from 6.00 – 7.15
All new players very welcome in all grades.
Our U16s had a great win in their first League game – Corofin 3-17 Claregalway 3-07. It was a great team effort and credit is due to both teams who played an outstanding game of football in very poor weather conditions – well done Girls.

Club Notes 11 May


Our All-Ireland Medal Presentation Social takes place on Saturday May 23rd in the Claregalway Hotel starting at 7.30 pm. Our guest of honour on the night will be President of the GAA, Aoghán Ó Fearghail who will be presenting the All-Ireland medals to the senior team. MC for the occasion will be Ollie Turner. The under 21 championship winning team will also be presented with their medals. Music is by Marley Road Band.

The intermediate league game versus Clifden takes place on Saturday, 16 May at 7.00 pm in Corofin.
Our juniors play Milltown at 7.30 pm in Milltown also on Saturday evening.
Our minors lost out to Mountbellew-Moylough in the final minor A football league game. Three teams, Corofin, Mountbellew-Moylough and Monivea-Abbey all finished level on points. The league playoffs are deferred until after the Leaving Cert.
Well done to the Under 14s who had a great win over a strong Glenamaddy/Glinsk team in poor weather conditions in Glenamaddy in the league on Sunday. They play Caherlistrane at 7.00 pm in Corofin on Friday evening.
The presentation on medals to the Under 13 and Under 14 teams from last year took place in the West Wing Restaurant on Sunday evening. The Under 13's won the league competition while the Under 14's won the league, championship shield and were runners up in the Féile Competition. Sincere thanks to senior players Gary Sice, Michéal Lundy, Liam Silke, Barry O'Donovan and Ciaran McGrath, together with Club Chairman, Michael Ryder for presenting the medals. It was great for the young players to have the senior players in attendance together with the Andy Merrigan Cup.

Thanks to ‘Fundamental Fitness’ for their time on Saturday morning in coaching our trainers and the under 6 to under 10 players.

Ladies Football:
Well done to Tracey Leonard, Trish Gleeson and Áine Seoighe who were all superb during the thriller of a league final in which Galway drew with Cork on a scoreline of Galway 1-14 to Cork 3-8. Congrats to Tracey who was awarded "Laoch na hImeartha" by TG4. The replay takes place in O'Moore Park, Portlaoise next Saturday with throw-in at 7.30. Best of luck girls.

Club Notes 4 May

Galway footballers claimed a comprehensive 2-18 to 0-8 victory over New York in their Connacht SFC preliminary round encounter at Gaelic Park, New York. The Galway side overcame illness off the pitch and a strong start from the home side to set up a Connacht Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final against Leitrim.

The intermediate team play Clifden in the league at 2.00 pm in Corofin on Sunday.

Our minors defeated Tuam Stars in the minor A football league, played last Wednesday in Corofin. They play Mountbellew / Moylough this Wednesday evening at 7.00 pm in Mountbellew.

Well done to the Under 14 squad who had a comprehensive win over Mountbellew Moylough in the league. The play Glenamaddy/Glinsk on Friday evening at 7.00 in Glenamaddy.

The Club Social has been fixed for Saturday 23 May – further details shortly.

The Club Shop opens on Fridays from 7.00 to 9.00 pm and on Sundays from 10.30 to 12.30 pm. The shop is located beside Raftery’s Centra.
