The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

CLUB NOTES:

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP:
Galway footballers play Monaghan in their final quarter-final Group 1 game on Saturday evening at 6.00 pm in Pearse Stadium.

Galway minor footballers qualified for the All-Ireland semi-final following their 18 points to 11 victory over Clare played in Tullamore on Sunday. Well done to the Club players involved, Tony Gill, Matthew Cooley and Conor Halbard.

LEAGUE GAMES:
We drew with Killannin in the league, division 1 on a scoreline of 1-10 each, played in Killannin last Thursday evening. The Corofin goal was scored in the first half by Cathal Newell.

In the league, division 4 we continued our good run, defeating St. James' by 2-20 to 1-6 played in Mervue on Friday. The Corofin goals came from Padraig Hanly and Cathal Newell.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP:
We played three junior championship games in the last week, winning all three. The results are as follows:
Junior Championship North – Group B, played in Clonberne on Tuesday of last week, Corofin 4-13 to Kilkerrin-Clonberne 1-12.
Junior A Championship North – Group A, played in Corofin on Sunday, Corofin 7-11 to Monivea-Abbey 1-12.
Junior C Championship North – Group A, played in Kiltormer on Sunday, Corofin 2-10 to Kiltormer 1-10.
Very well done to all players and mentors involved.

UNDERAGE:
We lost out to Monivea-Abbey in under 15 division 1 (North) played away last Tuesday.

CONGRATULATIONS:
The Club sends its congratulations to Stephen Hession (Manager) and Louise Coen (player) on the victory by Galway under 16 girls in the All-Ireland final.

SYMPATHY:
The Club offers its sympathy to the families and friends of the following who died recently: Connie Quinn-Ryan, Ballinderry; Bridie Cavanagh, (née Morris), Cregg, Currandulla and formerly Corbally, Cummer; Josephine Sheridan (née Bohan), Shrule, sister of Marie Igoe, Corofin. May they rest in peace.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
All-Ireland U16 Ladies Football Final – Galway 3-16 to Kerry 3-11.
Galway came back from seven points down to beat Kerry in extra time to win the under 16 final. Galway were the underdogs going into the game, but they took the game to Kerry. Congratulations are due to both Stephen Hession for his management role and Louise Coen for her exceptional performance in the backs during the whole campaign including the final. Both represented Corofin exceptionally well on Galway teams and both have won their second consecutive All Ireland title.

CLUB NOTES:

Galway footballers have qualified for the All-Ireland semi-final following their 19 points to 16 win over Kildare, played in St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge on Sunday, in phase 2 of the Super Eights.
We congratulate Ian Burke on another excellent performance that earned him the man-of-the-match award on RTE’s Sunday Game.

Hard luck to Galway junior team who lost out to Kerry in the All-Ireland Junior Championship final by 2-11 to 2-13. The game was played in Cusack Park, Ennis on Saturday. Cathal Reilly and Alan Molloy (who scored 0-1) both started for Galway, while Connor Brady was also a member of the panel.

We play Killannin in the league, division 1 at 7.45 pm in Killannin on Thursday evening.
Our league game against Salthill-Knocknacarra was postponed last weekend as a mark of respect to the Murphy family.

Our second adult team began their junior championship (North - Group B) with a game against Kilkerrin-Clonberne in Clonberne on Tuesday evening.
This team play St James’ in the league division 4 at 2.00 in Mervue on Sunday.

We played Monivea-Abbey in under 15 division 1 (North) away on Tuesday.

Our under 14 team had an excellent win in division 1 (North), defeating Mountbellew-Moylough by 4-10 to 1-13 played in Mountbellew on Friday evening.

The Club offers its sympathy to Ger, Kevin and Deirdre (Tyrrell) and the extended Murphy and Dooley families on the sad loss of Angela Murphy, Gurrane, Belclare. May she rest in peace.

Club Notes 16 July

CLUB NOTES:

Well done to Galway footballers who defeated Kerry in the Super Eights phase 1 to claim their first win over the kingdom in championship since 1965. The final score was Galway 1-13 to Kerry 1-10, with Ian Burke contributing two points from play and being involved in many other scores in the course of the game. Galway play Kildare next Sunday at 2.00 pm, in St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge in phase 2 of the Super Eights.
The Club sends best wishes to Paul Conroy who sustained a serious injury in the game.

Galway collected their fourth Connacht Minor Connacht title in a row when they defeated Roscommon in the final in Hyde Park on Friday evening on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-9. This was the first ever minor title at U-17. Congratulations to Man of the Match Matthew Cooley who scored five points and to the other Club players involved, Tony Gill and Conor Halbard.

We lost out to Tuam Stars in the league, division 1 by 0-13 to 0-14 played in Corofin on Tuesday of last week.
We play Salthill-Knocknacarra in the league at 7.00 pm on Saturday evening in the Prairie, Salthill.

Our under 16 team were defeated by Northern Gaels in division 1 (North) on a scoreline of 2-9 to 3-11, also played in Corofin on Tuesday of last week.

We defeated Monivea-Abbey by 6-9 to 5-10 in under 14 division 1 (North) played away on Friday evening.

Our under 13s defeated Mountbellew-Moylough by 3-10 to 4-5 in division 1A played at home on Saturday.

Congratulation to the Galway Minor Ladies Football team who captured the All-Ireland on Sunday, defeating Cork by 5-7 to 2-15. Well done to the Corofin ladies who all played in the game, Karen Connolly, Amy Coen, Katie Quigley and Aoife Coen.

The Club offers its sympathy to Margaret Burke Anbally, whose mother, Kathleen Flaherty, Milltown, died at the weekend. May she rest in peace.

The lotto numbers drawn were 16, 20, 27, 30. We had no winners. The seller’s prize went to Patricia Langan. Next week's jackpot is €6,500 and the draw is in the Club Office. ‬

Club Notes 9 July

CLUB NOTES:

We defeated Caherlistrane by 4-8 to 0-14 in the league, division 5 (North) played in Caherlistrane on Saturday evening.
Our division 4 team had one point to spare over St Gabriel's, winning by 1-12 to 1-11, played in Corofin on Sunday evening.
Well done to both teams.

We played Tuam Stars in the league, division 1 in Corofin on Tuesday evening. We are scheduled to play Killannin, also in division 1, at 7.00 pm on Sunday evening.

Galway footballers return to action on Sunday when they take on Kerry in Croke Park at 4.00 pm. Best wishes to the team.
Galway’s other two games in the “Super 8s” are against Kildare in Newbridge on the weekend of 21 / 22 July, while they will play Monaghan in Pearse Stadium on the weekend of 4 / 5 August.

Congratulations to the Galway hurlers who retained their Leinster Championship with a seven point victory over Kilkenny in Thurles on Sunday. Congrats to Daithí Burke who put in another excellent performance in the game. Congrats also to Galway minors, and to Sylane hurler, Keelan Creaven, who defeated Limerick in the All-Ireland quarter final also played in Thurles on Sunday.

CLUB NOTES:

Well done to our division 4 league team who continued their good run with a 3-point win over Renvyle, played in Renvyle on Saturday evening. The final score was 3-13 to 3-10. We now top this division with 10 points after the 5 games played. The team returns to action when they play St Gabriel's in Corofin at 6.30 pm on Sunday.
