The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 28 July

MEN'S NOTES:
Well done to our club players, Tomás Healy, Micheál Lundy and Daithi Burke who all performed well in Galway’s win over Tipperary on Saturday evening. Galway now face Kerry in the All-Ireland Quarter Final in Croke Park next Sunday. Best wishes to all involved.

The minors had a good win over Kilconly last Wednesday evening. They now join Mountbellew-Moylough in the North Board semi-final.

The juniors lost out by 1-7 to 1-16 against St Gabriel's in the championship played last Friday in Mountbellew. They next play Milltown in the quarter-final.

The intermediates were defeated by Moycullen in the league last Sunday.

Lotto numbers: 8, 13, 16, 21. We had no jackpot winner and no match 3s. Sellers prize went to Liz c/o Palm Tree. Next week's jackpot is €11,900 with the draw in Rafterys.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
U8s training is on Tuesdays from 6.15 to 7.15 in Belclare.

The U10s Mini-Blitz held in Belclare on Saturday 26 July was a huge success with teams from Corofin, Tuam, Kilconly and Milltown taking part. Well done and a huge thanks to all the volunteers and parents, especially Ken Quirke and his mentors who made it such a success.
Training continues every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare and again every Thursday at 6.15 in Corofin.

U12s training this week takes place only on Wednesday at 6.15 in Belclare.

Congratulations to the Galway U16 Ladies and to our club players, Leanne Coen, Orla Canney, Chelsey Blade and team mentor, Stephen Hession, as they defeated Roscommon last Sunday in the Connaught A final. They now play Dublin in the All-Ireland Semi-final on 17 August.

We send the best of luck and good wishes to the Galway Minors and to our club player, Dearbhla Gower, as they play Cork in the All-Ireland A Final, next Monday 4 August in Birr, Co Offaly. Throw in is at 5.45. This game is also live on TG4.

The seniors play their 2nd round match versus St Brendans next Thursday in Corofin. All support to help this team progress in the championship would be very much appreciated.

Club Notes 21 July

MEN'S NOTES:

The ‘Corofin Calling – Summer Festival 2014’ took place over the weekend, commencing with a mixed sevens football blitz. Each team consisted of players of all ages and abilities. In addition each team also had one lady under 18 and one lady over 18. The winning team was the “New Line+”, with joint managers Mary Farragher and Cormac Greaney. The team featured Tom Greaney and Aidan Fahy from the Corofin ’98 All-Ireland winning team. Five others from the ’98 team also played on the evening. Thanks to all eight teams who participated on the blitz and to the club officers who helped coordinate the event.

Our seniors had a narrow victory over Caherlistrane in the Connacht League - Leo Kenny Cup, played in Corofin last Tuesday evening. The final score was Corofin 3-8 to Caherlistrane 0-16. The Corofin goals were scored by Ronan Steede (2) and Justin Burke. The final Corofin goal came deep in injury time when Ronan Steede punched the ball to the net from an Alan O’Donovan free to give Corofin a single point victory.

Our minors play Kilconly in the quarter final of the North Board A Football Championship at 7.30 pm in Corofin on Wednesday evening. All support is welcome.

Our juniors play St Gabriel's in the North Board Championship on Sunday next at a time and venue to be confirmed.

The intermediates have a league game against Moycullen in Moycullen on Sunday at 1.00 pm.

Our under 14s defeated Glenamaddy-Glinsk by 5-12 to 1-11 in the championship shield semi final played last Friday in Milltown.

Lotto numbers: 25, 26, 30, 31. There was no jackpot winner and one match 3, Seán Daly. The seller's prize went to Patricia Langan. The jackpot is now €11,750 and next week’s draw is in Canavans.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

Congratulations to our under 14 girls on the Galway team who won the All-Ireland B final defeating Waterford in Nenagh on Sunday. The players involved were Karen Connolly, Katie Quigley, Amy Coen, Aoife Coen, Louise Reilly and Keisha Geraghty. Well done also to Brian O’Donovan who was part of the management team. The Galway team was given a great welcome with flags and bonfires as the team bus passed through Corofin on Sunday night.

Congratulations also to the Galway Minors and our club player, Dearbhla Gower. They defeated Dublin in the All-Ireland A semi-final, last Saturday in St Brendan’s Park Birr.

Wishing the very best of luck to our club players, Leanne Coen, Orla Canney, Chelsey Blade, and team mentor, Stephen Hession, as they play Roscommon next Sunday the 27th at 6pm in the Connaught A final. The game will be played in Fr. O’Hara Park, Charlestown.

U10s mini blitz takes place in Belclare next Saturday , 26 July from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. As we are hosting this, can each girl please bring something for the tea and cakes afterward. Help on the day is also needed – please let management know if you can help. Training continues every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare and again every Thursday at 6.15 in Corofin.

Club Notes 14 July

MEN'S NOTES:

Following their defeat to Mayo in the Connacht final on Sunday, Galway footballers will now play Tipperary in O’Connor Park, Tullamore at 7.00 pm on Saturday 26 July. The game will be featured on Sky Sports.

The under 14 championship shield semi final v Glenamaddy-Glinsk, which was postponed last Friday evening as a mark of respect to the Reilly family on the death of Paddy, has been refixed for Friday 18 July. The venue is to be confirmed.

Under 10 and 8 play Annaghdown on Saturday morning in Belclare at 11.00 am in the county blitz.

Under 6 continue training in Belclare on Saturday at 10.00 am.

The under 14 players, mentors and underage committee wish Rossa Ryan a speedy recovery to full health, following his horse riding accident.

Our sympathies are extended to the Reilly family, Rusheens, on the sad loss of Paddy Reilly, RIP, our Club Treasurer. Club members, players and Paddy’s former work colleagues at St. Jarlath's Credit Union and Galway Crystal, formed a joint guard of honour at the removal from St Colman's Church, Corofin on Saturday.

We had no winner of our lotto and no match 3s. The numbers drawn were 7, 12, 22, 31. The sellers’ prize went to Pat Curley. Next week's jackpot is €11,600, with the draw in the Cellar Bar.

The ‘Corofin Calling – Summer Festival 2014’ takes place this weekend, commencing with the sod turning of the new playground at 6.30 pm on Friday. This is followed by a mixed 7 a-side Football Blitz starting at 7.00 pm. Teams will consist of Corofin players past, present and future – 8 teams are taking part, including Burkes and Canneys Claretuam, Comers, Burkes of Brackloon, Farraghers and Greaneys, Morris's, O’Donovans, Sices, Steedes, Silkes and many more with ‘unique’ team managers. Teams comprise one player from all grades from minor to masters and two ladies players. It's meant to be a fun event but early indications are that these players just don't understand ‘non-competitive’!

Good luck to our club players on Sunday next in the All Ireland U14 B Final, namely Karen Connolly, Aoife Coen, Katie Quigley, Louise Reilly, Keisha Geraghty, Amy Coen and team mentor Brian O’Donovan.

Good luck also next Saturday to our club player, Dearbhla Gower in the Minor semifinal which takes place in Birr.

MEN'S NOTES:

Best wishes to our club players in the Connacht final against Mayo on Sunday.
The intermediate team has drawn Claregalway in the next round of the championship. Games are scheduled for the weekend of 9 / 10 August.
Our minors had a good win over Claregalway by 2-16 to 2-4 in the North Board Championship, played last Wednesday evening. Colin Brady scored both Corofin goals.
Congratulations to our Under-16s who won the Shield Final in St James' U-16 Tournament on Sunday. Corofin defeated Annaghdown by 2-6 to 1-3 in the final. Well done to all the lads who played. They played 4 games in total. This should prove to be a great preparation for the forthcoming championship. The team play Claremorris in a challenge match this weekend in Claremorris.
The Under 14 team play Glenamaddy-Glinsk in the U14 Football Championship - Div 1, at 7.00 pm next Friday 11 July. Venue has yet to be confirmed.
Under 10, 8 and 6 continue training in Belclare on Saturday morning at 10.00 am.

The ‘Corofin Calling – Summer Festival 2014’ takes place from Fri 18th to Sun 20th July. On Friday evening we are having a 7’s Football Blitz comprising of teams of 7, with each game lasting 7 minutes. The teams will be mixed, with one senior team player and one ladies team player on each team. There is a packed array of events on Saturday starting at 10.00 am and concluding with a 80’s Themed Disco from 10.00 pm until late. On Sunday there will be an Agricultural & Vintage Family Day from 11.30 am to 5.30 pm. The weekend concludes with a family barbeque and live DJ from 6 to 9 on Sunday evening. LADIES FOOTBALL:
The U8s have training every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare.
The U10s have training every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare and again every Thursday at 6.15 in Corofin.
There is no U12 training on Thursday the 10th.
Well done to the Community games team. They beat Mayo in the Connaught semifinal, but lost out to a very strong Leitrim side in the final.
Congratulations and well done to all our senior club players who were part of the Galway senior Panel on winning 3 Connaught titles in a row. Galway defeated Mayo on a scoreline of Glaway 1-16 to Mayo 1-12. The TG4 Player of the Match was Emer Flaherty, Galway.
Congratulations and well done to Leanne Coen, Orla Canney, Chelsey Blade, and team mentor, Stephen Hession, as they are now through to a Connaught u16 final after defeating Sligo last Saturday.
Galway LGFA and Corofin Ladies club are looking for 2 volunteers, to help with the coaching of the U13 development panel. This would be good experience for anyone interested in becoming involved with underage coaching. Details can be had from David Gower.
