The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 25 January

MEN'S NOTES:

Pride of place this week goes to our under 21 team who won the County U-21A championship on Saturday defeating An Cheathrú Rua by 1-15 to 1-3 with the Corofin goal coming from Patrick Madden in the first half. The team have now completed a three-in-a-row of county titles and have won five of the last six county titles. Well done to this exceptional bunch of players and to the team management on a tremendous achievement.

Congrats to Gary Sice, footballer of the year, Tracey Leonard, ladies footballer of the year and Mike Farragher on behalf of Corofin, team of the year, who all picked up their awards at a gala function in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill on Saturday night.
Special congratulations also to Tracey, who is the new captain of Galway Ladies Senior team. Best wishes for every success in your new role Tracey.

Well done to Galway footballers who defeated Roscommon in the FBD league final played in Tuam on Sunday.

Hard luck to Sylane hurlers who lost out to Eoghan Ruadh, Derry in the All-Ireland junior semi-final on a scoreline of Eoghan Rua 0-10 to Sylane 0-04.
Well done to Abbeyknockmoy Hurlers who defeated Kickhams Creggan by 1-13 to 0-10 in the All-Ireland intermediate semi final.

Club membership for 2016 is now due. Details of the various categories of membership and related fees can be found on the Club website. A completed ‘Adult Membership Form 2016’ or ‘Youth Membership Form 2016’ as appropriate must accompany the fee. These forms can also be downloaded from the website or obtained from members of the Club executive.

The third national club draw was recently launched by the GAA. Tickets, which cost €10, can be obtained from any committee member and the club will retain all the proceeds from the tickets sold.
So for a small outlay of just €10, you can support your club and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

The Club offers its sincere sympathy to the Canney family, Belclare on the death of Anthony Canney and to Brenda Rabbitte, on the death of her brother Kevin Maher, Salthill. May they rest in peace.

Club Notes 18 January

MEN'S NOTES:

Galway footballers are through to the FBD league final following their 0-16 to 1-5 victory over GMIT. They will play Roscommon in a repeat of last year’s decider at a Galway venue on Sunday.

Corofin are scheduled to play the County final of the under 21 championship (2015) next Saturday at 2.00 pm against An Cheathrú Rua. Full details are not available yet. Best of luck to all involved.

We wish Sylane hurlers the very best of luck in their All-Ireland Junior hurling semi-final on Sunday. They play Eoghan Ruadh, Coleraine, Derry in Ballyshannon, Co Donegal at 2.00 pm. Sylane are hoping to become the first club from Connacht to reach the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Club Final in Croke Park. All support is welcome.

If you are planning to go to the Galway Sports Stars awards banquet taking place in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill on Saturday night, please contact John Raftery to purchase tickets for the event. Corofin footballers are receiving the "Team of the Year" award, Gary Sice is the footballer of the year and Tracey Leonard, the ladies footballer of the year.

The Corofin underage AGM will take place this Thursday night at 8 pm in St Colman's room behind Corofin Church. New members very welcome.

The Club offers its sincere sympathy to Neil McGill, Corofin on the death of his mother, Marie McGill, Limerick and to Roger Fahy, Ballybanagher on the death of his sister, Eileen Mannion, Glenamaddy. May they rest in peace.
The Club offers its sincere sympathy also to Jules Le Lievre from Polinore who plays for our under 12's, on the death of his grandfather, former All Black Jules Le Lievre who passed away on Sunday in Christchurch, aged 82.

Club Notes 11 January

MEN'S NOTES:

Galway footballers continued their good run in the FBD Connacht League with a 3-point victory over Leitrim in Tuam Stadium on Sunday on a scoreline of 1-8 to 1-5.
Galway play GMIT at 2.00 pm in Indreabhán, (Ml Breathnach’s grounds) on Sunday next in round two of the league.

The 51st annual Galway Sports Stars awards banquet takes place in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill on Saturday night, January 23. The exploits of our senior footballers in powering their way to the All-Ireland title last March is being recognised with the Team of the Year award, while a mainstay of that side, Gary Sice, will pick up the Gaelic football accolade for the second consecutive year. A third award for the parish goes to Galway Ladies Football star Tracey Leonard. Congratulations Gary, Tracey and the Corofin senior team.

This year, the GAA is introducing a specific draw for all clubs who record, account for and sell a minimum of 200 tickets. A draw will be done per County whereby 1 Club in each County will receive a prize of €1,000.
There is a wide range of individual prizes from a new Opel Corsa, to a trip with the 2016 All-Stars, a range of All-Ireland ticket packages and shopping vouchers and more. So for a small outlay of just €10, you can support your club and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

The lotto numbers drawn were 7, 26, 29, 30. The jackpot not won and we had no match 3. The seller's prize went to Patricia Langan. Next week's jackpot is 7,550 and the draw is in the Club office.

Club Notes 4 January

MENS NOTES:
Galway footballers got 2016 off to a winning start against Sligo in the F.B.D Connacht League with a 2-9 to 0-12 victory in Tuam Stadium. Cathal Silke lined out at number 3 for Galway. Other Club players also featured for the Colleges competing in the FBD league games.Stephen Rochford’s reign as Mayo manager also got off to a winning start when Mayo were pushed all the way by NUIG before emerging 1-12 to 1-10 winners. In the other games played on Sunday, Roscommon defeated Sligo IT by 1-20 to 0-10 and Leitrim had a 3-16 to 1-6 victory over GMIT. Galway play Leitrim next Sunday in Tuam in round two of the league.

We send our very best wishes to Gary Sice and Bevin Grant who are getting married on Friday in Kilkenny. All in the Club wish them both a long and happy life together.
