The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 26 January

MEN'S NOTES:

Congratulations to Frank Morris who has been chosen as a recipient of a 2015 GAA Presidents Award in light of his outstanding voluntary contribution to the GAA over a prolonged period. A special banquet will take place in Croke Park on Friday, 6th February next to honour all the recipients. Tickets for this banquet will be made available to the Clubs of each recipient should any members wish to attend. The cost is €30 per ticket and tickets can be purchased through Club Officers. The event on the night will be filmed by TG4 and shown at a later date.

The club AGM took place last Friday in the Community Centre, Belclare. In the course of the AGM the officers presented a review of the club activities for 2014. Details of the incoming officers can be seen on the Club website. Many thanks to all who attended the AGM.
The Allianz Football League Division 2 commences next Sunday as Galway play Meath in Pearse Stadium at 2.00 pm. Referee for the game is Padraig O’Sullivan.

The underage AGM was held on Monday night, also in the Belclare Community Centre.
The registration for players under 12 and younger takes place on Saturday 7 February at 10.00 am in Belclare.

Under 14 training continues on Friday from 6.00 to 7.00 pm in the Astro turf, Belclare. We have a challenge match on Sunday next. More details are to follow.

The under 8 trip to Tullamore goes ahead on 14 February. Prior to the trip we will train on next two Saturday mornings at 10.00 am in Belclare. Any queries re the trip and training can be sent to Ciarán Lynch, Alan Kelly or Martin Collins.

Lotto Draw – Monday 26 January: There was no winner of our lotto jackpot and no match 3. The numbers drawn were 10, 11, 31, 32. The seller's prize went to Patricia Langan. Next week's jackpot draw for €15,800 is in Rafterys.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

The Corofin Ladies AGM takes place this Friday evening 30th January at 8.00 pm in Canavan’s, Belclare. All people interested in helping Corofin Ladies GFC continue to thrive in the coming season are welcome to attend. If you are a voting member, please start considering who you would like to nominate for the various voluntary roles within the Club. We welcome all people interested in volunteering to help us in any capacity. In particular it will not be possible for one person to continue as Chairperson, Secretary and Registrar in 2015. So volunteers for these roles would be very welcome. Please speak to David Gower if you wish to talk about any role within the Ladies Club.

Congratulations to Helen Connolly of Corofin Ladies who has been appointed Assistant Secretary on the Galway Ladies Football Board for 2015.

We also send our best wishes to our players involved with Galway Ladies as they begin their Division 1 National League campaign with a home game against Laois in Tuam Stadium this coming Sunday afternoon. There will be four other top quality Div 1 League home matches against Dublin, Tyrone, Monaghan and Kerry. All these games are being held in Tuam during February and March. Children and students have free entry to these games. Adults can purchase a season ticket for all five games for €30.

Club Notes 19 January

MEN'S NOTES:
AIB, in association with the GAA, honoured the best provincial players across Camogie, Football and Hurling at "#TheToughest" Awards in Croke Park on Monday.
Well done to Gary Sice who collected the award as Connacht GAA club footballer of the year for 2014!

The club AGM takes place this Friday at 8.00 pm in the Community Centre, Belclare. Motions or any nominations for any committee position or team mentor must be received by the club secretary Jimmy McHugh, by 5.30 pm today, Wednesday. Nomination papers and other documentation in relation to the AGM can be downloaded from the club website.

Our Intermediate team are scheduled to play Oileáin Árainn in a league play-off on Saturday at 2.00 pm. Venue has yet to be confirmed.
Under 14 Training continues next Friday and Sunday in the Astro turf. Times will be sent by text to Parents. Anyone needing a lift to training, please text John Finnegan.

The draw for the North Board U21 Championship 2015 was made last week. We have been drawn in a group of 3 with Annaghdown and Oranmore Maree. The top two in the group go forward to the semi-final.

The Club Social has been CANCELLED. Thanks to all who purchased tickets, which have been refunded.

We extend our sincerest condolences to Kevin Collins, Managing Director of our Club Sponsors, Western Hygiene and to the extended Collins family, on the death of Anne-Marie Collins, RIP, (née O'Loughlin) Curry, Cummer.
The Club also sends its condolences to the family and friends of Michael O'Neill, RIP, the St James’ Club Secretary, who died last week.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

Please note for your diary that the Corofin Ladies AGM will be held on Friday evening 30th January at 8pm. The venue will be confirmed shortly. If you are a voting member, please start considering who you would like to nominate for the various voluntary roles within the Club. We welcome all people interested in volunteering to help us in any capacity. In particular it will not be possible for one person to continue as Chairperson, Secretary and Registrar in 2015. So volunteers for these roles would be very welcome. Please speak to David Gower if you wish to talk about any role within the Ladies Club.

Club Notes 12 January

The All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship Semi-Final takes place on Saturday 14 February in O’Connor Park, Tullamore, at 2.00 pm. We play the current All-Ireland Champions, St. Vincent’s, Dublin. So start making your plans to travel to Tullamore and celebrate St. Valentine’s Day with us. If you are unable to travel, the game will be shown live on TG4, but “Nothing beats being there!”

Celebrate the Club’s success in 2014 by attending our Annual Club Social which will take place in the Claregalway Hotel on Saturday 24 January, commencing at 7.30 pm. Join our County, Connacht and League Champions and our under 21 team, winners of North Board and County titles. Music is by Double Deckers and tickets, costing €30, can be obtained from committee members.
We had no winner of our lotto from the numbers drawn 5, 8, 15, 25. Three match 3s – Katherine Burke, Angela Coen, Francis Hanley. Seller’s prize to Úna Molloy. Next week’s jackpot is €15,500 and draw is in the Cellar Bar.

Club Notes 5 January

MEN'S NOTES:

The club AGM takes place on Friday 23 January at 8.00 pm in Belclare. Nomination papers and other documentation in relation to the AGM can be downloaded from the club website.

The annual club social will take place in the Claregalway Hotel on Saturday 24 January, commencing at 7.30 pm. Music is by Double Deckers and tickets, costing €30, can be obtained from committee members from this weekend.

The second national club draw was recently launched by the GAA. Prizes, which are provided by Croke Park, include a trip with the 2015 All-Stars, a trip to New York, travel voucher to the value of €1500, All-Ireland Hurling & Football Final Corporate Package 2015 and much more. Tickets, which cost €10, can be obtained from any committee member and from the senior players. All the proceeds from the sale of tickets within the club go towards our own fundraising.

Under 14s resume training this Friday evening, 9 January, from 6.00 to 7.00 pm on the Astro Turf in Belclare. All eligible players are welcome.

The Corofin Community Development Association is holding a fun themed ‘Ladies Table Quiz’ on Saturday 10 January next in the Palm Tree – commencing at 9pm.
There will be fun themes across a wide range of women-based topics that all men and women should know the answers to! Tables of 4 for €40, which includes your tickets for the raffle on the night – great prizes to be won and great fun guaranteed.

Our sympathies are extended to the Egan family, Rusheens, on the death of our former Chairman, Pat Egan, RIP. We wish to thank all who helped with stewarding and took part in the guard of honour on both days of the funeral.
l ‘thank you’ to all who supported us in any way throughout the year. Thanks also to all who worked in the background on the executive and other committees and especially our dedicated players who continue to bring honour to our club and parish.
