The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes January 2014

Club Notes 27 January

Best wishes to the Galway senior footballers, as they commence their league campaign next Sunday with a game against Meath in Páirc Tailteann, Navan at 2:00 pm.

The Corofin U21s start the defense of their title with a home game against Mountbelllew/Moylough on Sat Feb 8th. More details next week.

Tickets are selling fast for the Club Social which takes place in the Claregalway Hotel on Saturday 8 February. Medals will be presented to the seniors, who won the county championship, to the intermediates, who were league final winners and to the under 21s, who won the north board and county titles. The 1963/64 team players will also be in attendance on the night. Music will be by ‘Double Deckers’. Tickets will cost €30 and are available from the following: Michael Ryder (086-806 3166); Mags Keane (087-259 4964); Jimmy McHugh (086-381 6948) and Patricia Langan (087-942 8819).

Have you considered joining Corofin GAA Club as a non playing member for 2014? Membership is only €30 per person or €50 for a couple. Membership forms can be downloaded from the club website and fees can be paid to any committee member. Amongst the benefits which members will enjoy are the following:
• Free entry to all home league games.
• Entry to All-Ireland ticket draws for adult members.
• Adult members can vote at AGM.

Our lotto jackpot has now reached €8,000. The numbers drawn this week were 14, 15, 22 and 31. We had no jackpot or match 3 winners. Next week's draw takes place in Rafterys.

LADIES NOTES:
Corofin Ladies will hold their AGM on Friday 31 January in Canavan’s of Belclare at 8.30 pm.

Club Notes 20 January

MEN'S NOTES:
Despite enjoying a comfortable victory over GMIT at Tuam Stadium on Sunday, Galway footballers missed out on a place in the FBD League final. The Galway team featured Greg Higgins, Gary Sice and Kieran McGrath, while Aeneas Lawless, Ronan Steede, Micheál Lundy, Alan Molloy and Michael Farragher played for GMIT.

Training has commenced for minors, under 16’s and under 13’s. Details of training schedules will be posted on Facebook and Twitter.

A meeting of Under 14 players and parent(s) will take place in St Colman’s Room at the rear of Corofin Church on this Thursday night 23 January at 8.00 pm. Plans for the coming year will be outlined. All boys born in 2000 and 2001 who are interested in playing football for Corofin GAA Club this year are invited to attend together with their parent(s).

The club offers its sympathies to the O’Loughlin, McDonagh and Collins families on the recent death of Martin O’Loughlin, RIP, formely of Curry, who died in New York.

The lotto numbers drawn on Monday 13 January were 1, 11, 17, 31. There was no winner of the jackpot and no match 3s.
The numbers drawn this week were 3, 9, 16, 22. There was no winner of our lotto jackpot and four match 3s – T.J.Comer, Joe Hynes, Brian Newell, Liam and Teresa. The jackpot is now €7,850 and next week’s draw takes place in Canavan’s.

The Galway footballers suffered a defeat at the hands of Leitrim in the FBD league on a scoreline of Leitrim 1-10 to Galway 2-6. Gary Sice and Ian Burke played for Galway with Ian getting one of the Galway goals.

Club Notes 6 January

MEN'S NOTES:
Well done to the Galway footballers who had a comprehensive win over Sligo in the FBD League on Sunday. Tom Healy and Greg Higgins both started for Galway, while Kieran McGrath came on as a substitute. It’s great to have Kieran back playing football and sporting in the Galway colours again, having recovered from injury which has kept him out of the game for 14 months.

Corofin GAA underage AGM takes place on this Wednesday evening 8 January at 8.00 pm in St. Colman's Room, Corofin Church. All are welcome – so see you there.

There was no winner of our lotto jackpot on Monday 6 January. The numbers drawn were 1, 8, 15, 17. We had four match 3s – J.J Cummins, Angela Coen, Shane Murphy and Paddy Coppinger. The jackpot is now € 7,550 and next week’s draw takes place in the Man of Aran.

The numbers drawn on Monday 30 December were 3, 9, 14, 21. We had six match 3s – Bernard Coen, Shane Murphy, Padraic Hughes, Mary O’Dea, Dermot Cassidy and Marie Scahill.

In the draw which took place on Monday 23 December, there were two match 3s, Orna Canavan and Daniel Monaghan. The numbers drawn were 4, 14, 25, 27.
