The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 27 February

CLUB NOTES:

Our seniors returned to action on Saturday when they defeated Milltown by 1-14 to 0-9 in the John Dunne Cup. The Corofin goal was scored in first half by Jason Leonard. In the John Dunne Cup teams play without their county panellists. Corofin also played without a number of their under 21 players.

Galway footballers continued their good start to the Allianz Football League Division Two with a victory over Clare by 3-13 to 1-11. Micheál Lundy, Gary Sice and Liam Silke all featured for Galway. Following this win Galway now top the division, 1 point ahead of Kildare. Galway has yet to play Meath, Derry, Down and Kildare.

Well done to our minors who defeated Annaghdown by 0-13 to 1-5 in the minor league game which was played last week. Their second game in the league was played on Tuesday night against Claregalway in Claregalway.

The Club officially launched a major fundraising drive at an event held in Raftery’s public bar in Corofin on Tuesday night. The fundraising project is called “The €20k Drop” which is planned to support club development both on and off the field in 2017. “The €20k Drop” is similar to the TV show "the Million pound drop". The culmination of the fundraising drive will take place on Friday 31 March at 8.00 pm in the Claregalway Hotel. On the night 8 people will be selected from ticket holders and each will play for a chance to win €2,500. Tickets for the show, and for a chance to win €2,500, are priced at €20 and can be purchased from any committee member. There will be a discount for families or groups with four tickets available for €60.

CLUB NOTES:

The County Senior Football Championship Draw for 2017 was made recently. Corofin have been drawn to play Cortoon Shamrocks.

Our minors played Annaghdown in the Minor A Football League, North in Corofin on Tuesday night.

Underage training has re-commenced for this year. Details are available from the various team managers.

The Club offers its sympathy to Nathan Kearney, on the death of his father, Adrian O’Halloran, Weir Road, Tuam. May he rest in Peace.

Club Notes 13 February

CLUB NOTES:

Our seniors suffered defeat at the hands of Dr Croke’s, Killarney, in the All-Ireland semi-final played in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick on Saturday. The final score was Dr Croke’s 2-11 to Corofin 0-8. Dr Croke’s will play Slaughtneil in the final on St. Patrick’s Day. Although the game did not go our way on Saturday, we are immensely proud of the performance of our lads, not just on Saturday, but all throughout the campaign. We thank them for the effort they have put in to get this far in the Club Championship and for their hard work in preparation for the game. They remain one of the top Club teams in the Country and no doubt will get back on the big stage again before long. They have provided all in the parish, both young and old, with tremendous enjoyment as we followed them throughout their journey.
Once again we thank our supporters who travelled in great numbers to the game. Thanks also to the numerous GAA Clubs, businesses and individuals who sent us best wishes for the game.
We also send thanks to Na Piarsaigh GAA Club in Limerick for facilitating us prior to the game on Saturday and providing refreshments.

Club Notes 6 February

CLUB NOTES:

Best wishes to our senior footballers who take on Munster champions Dr Croke’s, Killarney, in the All-Ireland semi-final next Saturday in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick at 4.00pm. The team appreciates all the support to date and hope that we will be able to ‘out-cheer’ our Kerry rivals. So make your way to Limerick and bring your flags and banners for this big game.

GoBus Galway will operate a special Club Supporters Bus for the clash with Dr Croke’s.
The bus will leave Corofin Pitch at 12:30 pm and will return 30 minutes after the final whistle. Return tickets are priced at €15 per adult. Children under 18 and students are €12 return. Return tickets are available through the GoBus office only on 091 564600.

Na Piarsaigh GAA Club in Limerick have kindly offered us parking facilities for cars and busses at their Club grounds. Full bar and complimentary teas and coffees are available to our supporters on the day of the semi-final. The game between Slaughtneil and St Vincent’s will be shown in the Club House. Na Piarsaigh grounds are the first turn right after the Greenhills Hotel, which is on your left going into Limerick. The Gaelic Grounds are a 15-minute walk at most from the Clubhouse.

The Club shop will be open Thursday and Friday nights from 7 to 8. Get your Club gear for the All-Ireland semi-final.

Thanks to all who attended the underage registration last Saturday in Belclare.
