The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 23 February

MEN'S NOTES:

The AIB All Ireland Senior Football Club Championship Final in which Corofin play Slaughtneil of Derry in Croke Park, St Patrick's Day takes place at 3.45pm. The game will be live on TG4, but “Nothing Beats Being There”.
Representatives from the Ticket Office in Croke Park will be in Corofin from 7-9 on Tuesday 3 March to sell central tickets at a discount of €5. Adult stand tickets will be priced at €20. Juvenile (U16's) are priced at €5, for the Cusack stand only.
The Club is holding a fundraising “Night at the Dogs” in the Galway Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 7 March. All monies raised will go towards the senior team’s training fund in preparation for the All-Ireland Final. Tickets costing €20 are on sale locally. Prizes include €1000 for the holder of the ticket with the winning combination of dogs in the featured race. There will be 5 winners of €100 each in a Lucky Dip Draw on the night. The ticket includes admission to the Stadium and the Race Card.
The seniors won the John Dunne Cup Final on Sunday defeating Micheal Breathnach by 2 –11 to 0 – 9, played in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe.
The under 21s had a good start to their defense of the Championship defeating Annaghdown by 1-10 to 1-6, with the Corofin goal scored by Kieran Molloy.
Well done to U14 panel and their parents who braved the elements on Sunday morning in Kiltoom. The team had a great start to 2015 winning by 7-6 to St Bridgets 1-7.
Well done also to the u13 team who were winners by 5-4 to 1-4 in Sunday's league game in Mountbellew.
The under age ‘train the trainer’ course takes place this Wednesday in the Belclare gym at 8.00 pm.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot and no match 3s. The numbers drawn were 10, 15, 16, 29. The seller's prize went to Mike Wallace. Next week's jackpot is for €16,400 with the draw in the Man of Aran.
The club extends its sympathy to the Burke family on the death of Tommy Burke, RIP, Brackloon.

Ladies Football
U14 Training next Wednesday evening from 6pm to 7pm in Astro Turf.
U16 Training next Friday evening from 7pm to 8pm under lights in Training pitch.
All new players very welcome to both age groups

Club Notes 16 February

MEN'S NOTES:

Corofin senior footballers ended All-Ireland champions St Vincent's 27-month unbeaten run with a thrilling five-point semi-final win in Tullamore on Saturday. The team showed a tremendous work ethic from start to finish and were well-deserving winners. Many thanks to our brilliant supporters, the many supporters from clubs around Galway and to all who sent us messages of congratulations on social media. It is well merited by a superb team and a great bunch of guys.

We will play Slaughtneil of Derry on St Patrick's Day, as they also scored 1-14 in their one point win over Austin Stacks (Kerry).

We had a good start to our day as our Under 9s also played St Vincent’s in Tullamore on Saturday morning. Well done to all involved. The coaches and mentors want to thank all the parents for getting the panel to Tullamore and for their support for the under 9's and the senior team afterwards.

Please note that the under age ‘train the trainer’ course has been changed to Wednesday 25th of February in the Belclare gym at 8.00 pm.

The parents of those on the under 14 panel are asked to confirm their son’s availability for next Sunday’s match against St Bridget’s as soon as possible with John Finnegan.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot and four match 3s – Paul Stephens, Ann Melvin, Cathal Burke, Francis Tyrell. The numbers drawn were 5, 7, 20, 26. Next week's jackpot is for €16,250 with the draw in the Hibernian Bar.

Club Notes 9 February

MEN'S NOTES:

Best wishes to our senior footballers who take on current Champions St. Vincent’s, Dublin, in the All-Ireland semi-final next Saturday in Tullamore at 2.00pm. The team appreciates all the support to date and hope that we will be able to ‘out-cheer’ the Dubs on Valentine’s Day. So make your way to Tullamore and bring your flags and banners for this big game.

The draws for the 2015 championship were made on Monday night. We play Salthill - Knocknacarra in the first round of the senior championship and we play Athenry in the intermediate championship.

Club membership is now due for all categories of members. Membership forms can be obtained from Committee members. Full details are available on the Club Website. Please note that Club membership can now be registered and paid online.

Many thanks to all who supported the GAA National Club Draw. All funds raised have gone to the Club.

Thanks to all who attended the registration for under 12 down last Saturday in Belclare.
Our under 9’s travel to Tullamore for a challenge match versus St. Vincent’s and Tullamore GAA u9's on next Saturday morning. Games will be played at O'Brien Park, which is across road from O'Connor Park. Players to meet at the Tullamore pitch at 10.30 am. Gum shields are essential and also have shorts, socks and gloves. The club will provide jerseys.
Lotto 9 February:
There was no winner of the lotto jackpot and no match 3s. The numbers drawn were 6, 13, 28, 31. The seller's prize went to John Joe Forde. Next week's jackpot is for €16,100 with the draw in Gills.

Club Notes 2 February

MEN'S NOTES:

Have you made your plans for St. Valentine’s Day yet? Be sure to include a trip to Tullamore, to support our senior team in their quest to reach the All-Ireland final, in your plans. The game against current Champions St. Vincent’s of Dublin starts at 2.00 pm on Saturday 14 February.

Well done to the Galway footballers who had a good start to the Allianz Football League on Sunday, defeating Meath by 4 points.

Club membership is now due for all categories of members. Membership forms can be obtained from Committee members. Full details are available on the Club Website. Please note that Club membership can now be registered and paid online.

Registration for all players from under 12 down takes place this Saturday in Belclare from 10.00 to 11.00. Training will be held for all teams at the same time.

Lotto 2 February:
There was no winner of our lotto jackpot and three match 3s – Gillian Lundy, Danny Ryder and Marie Killeen. The numbers drawn were – 9, 12, 23, 27. The seller's prize went to John Joe Forde. Next week's jackpot is for €15,950, with the draw in the Palm Tree.

The club offers its sympathies to the Costello family on the death of Peadar Costello, RIP, Anbally, who was a member of the Club’s minor title winning team in 1962 and to the Hanly family on the death of Maureen Hanly, RIP, Cummer.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

We held our AGM in Canavan’s, Belclare on Friday 30th January 2015. There was a good turnout for the night and we extend thanks to all who attended and participated on the night. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the revival of the Corofin Ladies Club. The Club was originally started in 1970 but had gone into decline until 1995. If the sentiments and enthusiasms shown at the AGM is indicative of the future, 2015 is the start of another great 20 years and beyond.

Well done to the Corofin girls on the Galway seniors who had a big win over Laois on Sunday, namely, Áine Seoige, Tracey Leonard, Tina Hughes, Patricia Gleeson, Roisín Leonard, Leonie Higgins and Aoife Newell.

Our under 14 management team are holding an information meeting in Belclare sports-field Clubhouse at 7.30 next Friday the 6th. All parents of girls playing at this grade for the coming year are asked to please attend this important event.
