Club Notes 28 December

As 2015 draws to a close, in what was a historic year for the club, we would like to most sincerely thank the managers and mentors at all levels in the club from under six up to senior. Their hard work and commitment has ensured that our players have been given the best possible opportunity to develop their skills and enjoy the game of football. We also want to extend a special ‘thank you’ to all who supported us in any way throughout the year, especially all who contributed to our extended fund-raising campaign in the lead up to the Club All-Ireland Final. Thanks also to all who worked in the background on the executive and other committees and especially our dedicated players who continue to bring honour to our club and parish.
The club would like to wish all our members, supporters, sponsors, friends and followers everywhere a Happy, Joyful and Prosperous New Year – Le gach dea ghuí i gcóir na hAth bliana.

Club Notes 21 December

The winning of two trophies at the weekend brought an incredibly successful year to a great end for the Club. On Saturday our intermediate team captured the Division 4 league title following their 1-10 to 0-10 win over Williamstown in the replayed final. Leading by 1-8 to 0-1 at half time, the team put in a spirited second half display against a strong wind to emerge deserving winners. The team played their first league game on May 10 and only lost to the eventual Champions, Moycullen, in the championship semi-final. Well done to all the players and the management team. A special thanks to manager Michael Ryder and stand-in managers Jimmy Sice & Ger Keane.

For the second year in a row we played the Division 1 league final on the Sunday before Christmas. Having played with the wind in the first half we went in at the break leading St James’ by 0-7 to 0-2. We withheld a spirited fight back from the city team to emerge victorious on a scoreline of Corofin 0-11 to St James’ 0-7. This game brought an end to the remarkable three-year managerial reign of Stephen Rochford. The club wishes to sincerely thank Stephen and to wish him every good luck in 2016 and the years ahead.

Best wishes to Kieran Fitzgerald and Emer Flaherty who are getting married next week. All in the Club wish them a long and happy life together.

The Club offers its sincere sympathies to Marie and John Raftery and family on the death of Marie’s mother, Mrs Ann Brennan, RIP, Roscommon Town.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot and no match 3s. The numbers drawn were 9, 13, 20, 29. The seller's prize went to Martin Reynolds. Next week's jackpot is €7,100 with the draw in the Club office.

The Club extends every good wish for a happy and peaceful Christmas to all. Nollaig shona daoibh go léir.
