The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 30 December

There was no winner of our lotto jackpot on Monday 30 December. The numbers drawn were 3, 9, 14, 21. We had six match 3s – Bernard Coen, Shane Murphy, Padraic Hughes, Mary O’Dea, Dermot Cassidy and Marie Scahill. The jackpot is now € 7,400 and the first draw of 2014 takes place in the Black Rose, Tuam.

In the draw which took place on Monday 23 December, there were two match 3s, Orna Canavan and Daniel Monaghan. The numbers drawn were 4, 14, 25, 27.

Club Notes 23 December

Our lotto jackpot continues to grow and is now €7,250. There was no winner of the jackpot and two match 3s, Orna Canavan and Daniel Monaghan. The numbers drawn this week were 4, 14, 25, 27. Club Notes 16 December

As the year draws to a close the club would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to all who supported us in any way throughout the year. Club Notes 9 December

Our senior team failed to add the league title to their county title, when they lost to Milltown on a score line of: Milltown 1-11 to Corofin 2-6. The win helped Milltown complete 3-in-a-row league wins.

Congratulations to the Galway Masters Football Team who won their second All-Ireland Masters Football Championship in succession at Leitrim on Saturday on a scoreline of Galway 1-8 to Tyrone 0-9. Well done to Trevor Burke, Brian Silke and Tomás Greaney, all members of the successful team.

We have finally got a result to our Sports Prediction Competition Quiz. The outright winner was Adrian Silke, who wins €500. The second prize of €250 was won by Enda Collins, while Stephen Tracey wins the third prize of €150. Congratulations and thanks to all who participated in the quiz.

Many thanks to all who supported the Corofin Community Development Association (CCDA) Gala Concert featuring James Kilbane, which was held in St. Colman’s Church, Corofin on Sunday night. A link to John McManus' photos from Sunday night is on the club website.

Club Notes 2 December


Congratulations to the six members of our Senior panel who were on the Claregalway Hotel sponsored “Dream team 2013” – namely, Kieran Fitzgerald, Ronan Steede, Gary Sice, Kieran Comer, Greg Higgins and Joe Canney. Gary Sice also got the Senior player of the year and Gerry Burke received the Hall of Fame award. Guest of honour at the event, held on Friday 29th, was Mark O’Shea, Kerry.
Please note that the club AGM takes place on Friday, 6 December 2013 @ 7.30 pm in St Colman's Room, Corofin. All are welcome. On the same night, Galway Footballers are holding a Table Quiz in 15 clubs throughout the county, including Raftery’s in Corofin. The Quiz is being held in association with Galway Bay FM and commences at 9.00 pm.
Our seniors play their final game of the year on Sunday 8 December, when they take on Milltown in the division 1A football league final. The game takes place in Tuam Stadium at 2.00 pm with referee Martin Flaherty. As this is the senior’s final game of the year, they deserve your support in Tuam Stadium on Sunday.
Congratulations to our Under 21s who had an excellent win over Salthill - Knocknacarra in the U21A county final played in Pearse Stadium on Saturday 23 Nov. The team put in a superb all-round performance to win by 3-11 to 1-11, having led by 2-6 to 1-3 at half time. This victory was achieved despite injury to a number of key players. In addition Liam Silke, man of the match in the North board final, had to retire injured after only 15 mins. All in the Club wish Liam a speedy recovery from the broken collarbone, which he suffered in the game. Best wishes Liam. The man of the match award went to Seán Silke.

Corofin Under 13 team won the David Canney Memorial Cup on Sunday 24 November, defeating Barna on a scoreline of 5-12 to 4-7 in an entertaining final played in Belclare. After the game Seán Canney, on behalf of the Canney and McHugh families, complimented both teams on an excellent game of football and encouraged the players to continue to play the game. He also thanked the Corofin Club for organising the competition, which is now in its eighteenth year. Shane Canney presented the cup to Dean Hynes, the captain of the Corofin team. Jimmy Sice, on behalf of the club thanked the Canney’s for their continued support of the Corofin GAA Club and said that it was a privilege to organise the competition in honour of David who represented the club at U8, U10 and U12 before his untimely death.
The winning squad was: Jack McHugh, Dean Hynes, Ciarán Melia, Jamie McIntyre, Joseph Duggan, Andrew Burns, Adam Lowry, Rossa Ryan, Jason Gorham, Adam Hession, Tony Gill, Seán Raftery, Ian Collins, Eoin Broderick, Matthew Cooley, David Cannon, Patrick Reilly, Jake Hogan, Robert Carr, Nathan Kearney, Cian Gillespie, Darren O’Brien, Richard Creighton, Adam Connolly and David Reilly.
This concludes a successful season for the under 13’s who won three competitions throughout the year – the North Board League, the Colm Cooper Tournament in Killarney and the David Canney Cup. Thanks to all who helped on Sunday with the soup tea and sandwiches.
Under 8's had their final training session of the year on Saturday week. They have had a great year, thanks to the dedication (and patience) of their trainers Alan, Cecil, Brian, Frank and Brian. Thanks guys! Boys were delighted when Gary Sice joined the training on Saturday and presented their medals.
The club sends it congratulations to all those involved with the Sylane U15 hurling team on winning the county final recently.
Corofin GAA club would like to thank all the underage coaches for their time in managing and coaching the players during the year. The year started back in February with under 16 training and finished on Sunday week last with the under13s winning the David Canney Memorial Cup. So it was a long year for all. A special thanks also to the parents for their time in bringing the player to training and matches.
The Corofin Community Development Association (CCDA) is hosting a Gala Concert in St. Colman’s Church, Corofin on Sunday 8th December commencing at 8.00 pm. The concert will feature multi-platinum selling christian, country gospel and Irish singer, James Kilbane.  Tickets, priced at €20 are now on sale from local businesses Rafterys Corofin & Claregalway, Canavans Belclare, Keanes in Corofin and Arch Barbers in Tuam. 
Our lotto jackpot has now reached €6800, as there was no winner of the lotto jackpot. Numbers drawn this week were: 9, 18, 20, 23. We had one match 3 – Eoin O’Malley. Next week’s draw is in Canavans.

The club offers its sympathies to Fintan Forde on the death of his aunt, Peggy Burnell, RIP, Tubber, Co Clare.
