The Club was affiliated to the GAA in 1925 and incorporates the two half-parishes of Corofin & Belclare.
The official club colours are Saffron and Green.

Club Notes 26 August

Corofin go through to the county senior semi-final, following a comprehensive win, by
6-19 to 1-7, over Naomh Anna, Léitir Móir. Well done to the players and mentors on a terrific display, particularly in the second half. In the semi-final (fixed for 15 Sept), Corofin play either Milltown or Cortoon, who played out a draw in Tuam Stadium. In the other semi-final Salthill Knockncarra will play St. James.

In the U21 A Football Championship – North, Semi Final, Corofin play Tuam Stars in Tuam Stadium at 6.30 pm on Thursday 5 September. Referee: Gerry Daly – extra time if necessary.

U16s were defeated by Barna, 1-3 to 0-10 in the championship in Corofin last Tuesday evening. The game versus Oughterard in the Championship Shield was conceded by Oughterard. They now play the winners of Micheál Breathnach or Carraroe on Tuesday 10th of Sept in Corofin at 6.30 in the semi-final of the Shield.

Corofin Under 13s had a good win over Barna, 4-12 to 4-4, in a game played in Belclare on Friday evening. On Saturday, 7 Sept, they travel to Dr Crokes GAA club in Killarney to play in the Colin (Gooch) Cooper invitational blitz. The bus will be leaving Corofin at 7.15 on Saturday morning, as we play our first game at 12.20. Good luck lads, as it’s a great honour to be invited to play in a tournament organised by the Gooch.

Under 6 and 8 continue training at 10 in Belclare on Saturday@10:00.

There was no winner of the lotto and no match 3s – numbers drawn 16, 25, 29, 32. Next week's jackpot is €4,850 with the draw in Rafterys.

Seniors will play in the County Final on Saturday 14th Sept in Monivea against Kilkerrin-Clonberne.

Hard luck to Tracey and Roisín Leonard, Aoife Newell, Leonie Higgins and Clíodhna Moloney, who were part of the Galway Senior panel who were beaten in the All-Ireland semi-final last Saturday in Cavan.

U16s play in the Division 1 Shield final this Thursday 5th Sept against Kilkerrin-Clonberne, best of luck girls.
Well done to the U12 girls who were part of the Galway teams who took part in the U12 Intercounty Tournament last Sunday in Dangan – Karen Connolly, Aoife Coen, Laura McTigue and Lilly Warde. U12 and U14 training continues.

Well done to our U10 girls who played Caherlistrane last Thursday. All girls played very well, and training continues Thursday at 6.30 in Corofin.

U8s have finished up training for this season. Thank you to all the girls who showed great enthusiasm at all training sessions. A huge thank you to the trainers and helpers who gave up their time – Larry and Brita Conneely and Darren Cooley.

Best of luck to our seniors who play Naomh Anna, Leitir Mór in the quarter final of the senior football championship on Sunday September 1, with the throw in at 1.45 in Pearse Stadium. The game is being refereed by James Molloy. Please come along and support this team who have put in a lot of hard work in preparation for the championship to date.
Well done to our U21s who defeated Ballinasloe, 1-11 to 1-10 in the A Football Championship - North, last week. The Corofin goal was scored by Ian Burke in last minute of game.
Corofin intermediates defeated Glenamaddy-Glinsk in the league, 1-8 to 0-9, ensuring promotion to division 2A for next year. Well done to all players and management team.
U16s play Barna in the championship in Corofin at 7.00 pm on Tuesday evening.
U13s defeated Salthill-Knocknacarra 6-11 to 2-8 last Thursday. Out next game against Barna has been confirmed for Friday 30th August in Belclare at 7.00 pm. All support welcome.
U6/U8 continue training on Saturday in Belclare @10:00.

There was no winner of the lotto - numbers drawn 5, 13, 24, 30. We had one match 3, Steven Comer. Next week's jackpot is €4,700 with the draw in Canavans.

Seniors played in the County Semi-final last Saturday in Tuam Stadium against Dunmore. It was a very wet and slippery evening for football and Corofin opened the scoring with a point from play by Tracey Leonard. Dunmore replied with another point from play, Roisin Leonard then converted a free, then Corofin found the back of the net after a great passage of play with Lisa Leonard getting herself on the scoresheet with a magnificent goal. The crowd was entertained with some great skill and determination from both sides, and when the halftime whistle blew Corofin were leading 1-5 to 0-4. The second half was no different, with great intensity and determination from all corners of the field. Corofin were very happy when referee David Breslin blew for full-time and celebrated with a win of 1-12 to Dunmore 0-12. They have now earned their place in the County Final scheduled to be play on Sept 14th against Kilkerrin-Clonberne. Best of luck to the girls and to the management team of Ciaran McGrath, Sean Costello, Pat Creaven, Mary Ryan and Pat Gleeson.

U16s are scheduled to play Moycullen in the Division 1 League semi-final this Weds 28th August, good luck girls. U14s are training as usual. U12s started their Championship campaign last Sunday 25th August with an away game against Moycullen, the girls played fantastic but found themselves 6 points down at half-time, the downturn continued in the 2nd half and mid way through the second half Corofin found themselves 10 points down, but this group of girls never gave up and with great determination came out with a win by the narrowest of margins, a point. Well done girls and best of luck in the rest of the Championship. Training continues for U8s and U10s as per usual.

Club Notes 19 August
We have been drawn to play Naomh Anna, Leitir Mór in the quarter final of senior football championship. The ties will be played on the weekend August 31/September 1.
Well done to our Juniors who defeated Claregalway by 12 pts to 2-5 in the A Football C'Ship - North Semi Final in Tuam Stadium on Friday evening.
Headford defeated Corofin by 2-10 to 2-9 in the minor championship replay in Tuam last Tuesday evening. This was another exciting & tense game – well done to all involved and hard luck.
The under 21 A Football Championship - North, Corofin V Ballinasloe, was refixed for 7.15 pm on this Tuesday evening, in Tuam Stadium.
Congrats to U-16 panel member Jonas Fallon who represented Galway in the 'Best of the Best' skills competition in Croke Park last Wednesday. Jonas came 6th, which is a great achievement. We are all very proud of him.
The under 16 championship begins on Tuesday 27th when we play Barna in Corofin at 7.00 pm.
Our under 13 team were beaten by a strong Claregalway side by 4-7 to 4-4.
We play Salthill / Knocknacarra on Thursday evening 22nd of August in the Prairie, Salthill at 7:00 pm.
U6/U8 continue training on Saturday in Belclare @10:00.
There was no winner of the lotto jackpot and two match 3s Aidan Donnellan and Majella Melody. The numbers drawn were 3, 5, 16, 28. Next week’s jackpot is €4,550 with the draw in the Cellar Bar.

Seniors play in the Championship semi-final this Saturday 24th August against Dunmore, venue and time tbc.

Well done to U16s who played Claregalway in the League last Sunday evening, but were defeated by the narrowest of margins, Corofin 5-11 to Claregalway 4-15.
Training continues for Junior, Minor and U16 this Thursday at 7pm.
Well done to U10s who played Claregalway last week and what a great display of football from the girls, well done.
Congrats to Galway Minor Ladies and management on winning the All-Ireland final last week.

Club Notes 12 August

Well done to our senior team, who defeated NUI Galway in round 3 of the championship by 0-17 to 0-6, in Pearse Stadium on Sunday evening.
Well done also to the intermediates who defeated St Brendan's by 1-13 to 1-5 in the relegation semi-final, played in Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening.

Our minors played out a very exciting draw in the North Board Minor A championship, against Headford last Wednesday. The game finished level after extra time on a scoreline of Corofin 1-21 to Headford 4-12. The replay took place this Tuesday.
Our juniors are back in action in the championship semi-final against Claregalway on Sunday 18 August – details to be confirmed.
On Wednesday 21 August, our under 21s resume their campaign, in the A Football Championship – North, with a game against Ballinasloe at 7.30 pm Corofin.
Under 16s play Westport in a challenge match on Friday in Westport at 7.00 pm.
Under 13 team play Claregalway in the first round of the league on Friday evening in Belclare at 7.00pm. Support is very much appreciated.
Under 8s and 10s play Tuam Stars on Saturday at 11:00 in Tuam Stars grounds on the Dublin Road.
Under 6s continue training in Belclare on Saturday at 10.00 pm.
The current ‘Leaderboard’ in the Corofin GAA Club Prediction Quiz has been updated. Terry Payne continues to set the early pace, having also topped the table after the first set of results.
The lotto jackpot was not won and there were no match 3s, with the numbers drawn 3, 24, 25, 29. Next week’s jackpot is €4,400 with the draw in the Man of Aran.

Club Notes 5 August

We have a number of very important games coming up shortly and all support is greatly appreciated. Best of luck to all our teams involved.
First up is the minor A football – North, Corofin versus Headford in Tuam Stadium on this Wednesday at 7.30 pm – referee Richard McNicholas.
In the intermediate football relegation semi-final, Corofin play St Brendan's in Tuam Stadium on Saturday 10 August at 5.15 pm – referee Tony Keating.
Our seniors resume their campaign on Sunday 11 August at 6.00 pm with round 3 of the championship versus NUI Galway in Pearse Stadium – referee PJ Rabbitte.
In the U21 A Football Championship – North, Corofin play Ballinasloe at 7.30 pm Wednesday 14 August in Corofin.
Our juniors are back in action in the championship semi-final against Claregalway on Sunday 18 August – details to be confirmed.
Training for under 12s resumes this week as usual.
The 4-day ‘School of Excellence’, organised by the Corofin senior players, continues until Friday in the Corofin pitch from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm daily.
The Corofin GAA Club would like to sincerely thank each and every one, for all the wonderful help and assistance given so willingly to the recent Gathering festival “Corofin Calling”. We wish to thank the stewards from the CCDA, the Agricultural Society, the other organisations and the many parishioners who also assisted and helped in any way. A special thanks to Brian Silke and his committee for organizing “the wedding” and to Tom Greaney and his committee for “the jersey night”, both of which were superbly run and organised.
